It is rich in fiber, minerals and the edible part of the stem can help to lower blood pressure, cure ulcers and prevents constipation. It helps in weight loss and to get rid of kidney stones. We usually make poriyal , pachadi , raita and kootu .
Banana stem (finely chopped) - 1/2 cup
Thick Buttermilk 3/4 cup
Thick Buttermilk 3/4 cup
Fresh ginger - a small pc
Jeera powder - 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida - a pinch
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves
Water - 1/4 cup
Salt - to taste
Preparation:
In a mixer, grind banana stem along with water and ginger pieces.
Strain this using a filter, mash the residue to get the extract fully.'
Now to the banana stem juice, add salt, asafoetida , cumin powder, and buttermilk.
Now transfer this to a glass tumbler, add curry leaves and coriander leaves.
Very tasty and healthy buttermilk is ready.
