About me

Hello!  I am Sandhya M.S. Welcome to my blog, where I focus on traditional and healthy eating.

I have started this blog to share my interest in cooking. My cooking took a turn towards traditional and healthy recipes when I  started to incline towards our heritage and tradition.

The world is moving faster and faster and we are in the era of instant cooking. All our needs have become instant!  But I feel we haven't forgotten our values and tradition.

We Indians have an aging tradition. Food,  one of the vital elements of our culture and custom,  explains how our tradition was geared towards a healthy life.  All our festivals have its specific recipes.

I have experienced cultural similarities and differences between Tamilnadu and Kerala from my childhood. Rice is the common food, then the love for idly, dosa, and sambar.  I still remember my mom's attempt to learn Tamilnadu recipes with a great interest from her friends. So naturally,  I am exposed to recipes of Tamilnadu and Kerala. My preparations are always appreciated by my friends and family members.

I have a small vegetable garden at my home, where I cultivate Brinjal, Ladies finger, Tomato, Ash gourd, Ridge gourd, Bitter gourd etc. I compost my kitchen waste and use it as a manure. Also, I put dried cow dung along with dried residues of peanut/groundnut, sesame and neem seeds. These dried residues are available in oil mills as cakes after extraction of oil.

I am pleased to share with you a few pictures of my vegetable garden.

Being a vegetarian,  my blog details 100% Indian vegetarian recipes. "No egg, No garlic recipes".

Thank you for sparing your time.
