Idli with tomato chutney - Idli with tomato, onion chutney

Idli is a popular breakfast in South India. It is a steamed food with fewer calories. It contains no fat.  Thus it is easy to digest and healthy.

Idli with tomato+onion chutney is an excellent combination. Tomatoes and onions are always available at home. So, this chutney can be prepared very quickly with fewer ingredients.

You can go through my post of how to prepare idli batter for making soft idlis.

Ingredients :

Tomatoes - 3 or 4

Small onion or
Shallots - a handful

Red chilis - 3

Rock Salt - as per taste

Gingelly oil - 1 tbsp

Preparation:

In a mixie grind all the ingredients except oil.

In a kadai, add gingelly oil. When it is hot, add the ground paste. Stir well.

Reduce the flame and cover it with a lid.

Leave it for 10 minutes, until the raw smell goes off. Stir in between.

Yummy chutney is ready to taste.

You can add gingelly oil while serving with idlis.

You can also use big onions. I have posted tomato+big onion chutney separately.
But, small onions taste good than big ones.
